Dont work

Looks great in the screenshots but it doesnt work on my iPod Touch with the 3.0 update. Is that the problem? I dont see any email address on the website. Frustrated...

Just what I needed

The most useful and complete dictionary of Ancient Greek in my pocket!!! Good job, it works flawlessly.

kudos

You do indeed get an impressive reference work and Im looking forward to this app developing even further. I would like to see the keyboard layout reflect the full contemporary Greek keyboard along with a toggle for a selection of diacritical marks. A flashing cursor in the search menu would be nice as would a set of preferences with built-in email functions. Bottom line: a $200, 4kg gold-standard desk reference for $5 that fits in your pocket.

Wow

Really good app, useful for all classic students. The first time you open the app, you should know that you have to tap the search bar to start the app. But after that, all work very good. Thanks for this dictionnary.

Big Liddell in an app :)

Works perfectly, use it all the time! Thank you!

This Is The Great Dictionary.

The longer I use this dictionary, the more I fall in love with it. This is certainly one of the best old dictionaries presented here, thanks a lot. I may pardon the authors even getting me in the beginning in front of a blind icon to dial a word in. The most important things are the cross-references, and they are within it, thanks a lot. Of course, I shall do not mind if your engineers would imagine this dictionary to become ever more adapted for the i-Phone technology.

The best old greek dictionary!

Im glad to own my IPad just to be able to consult this dictionary (as well as Lexidium). Im waiting for the IPad version (as you did for Lexidium). Thank a lot!

Perfect

Very smart and usefull!

By Pollux, this is marvelous!

When will the Latin one come out?

Very cool!

This little program is sweet. An extremely nice tool for any student of ancient greek. Almost makes my Liddell obsolete.

Perfect for students of Ancient Greek

As a student of Ancient Greek, Im delighted to find this app. Just wish I had found it before I bought my hardcopy of Liddell & Scott (which I dont bother to lug to the coffee house where I study Greek.) My only minor gripe (and Im a font developer, so go figure) is that the lowercase sigma at the end of words should be the final sigma form, not the medial form. Should be easy to reprogram the app to know when to use the final form, I would think. Just a minor annoyance for a typophile and perfectionist such as myself. Other than that, its great! Well, it would be nice if there were a way to get back to the search field after following some of the links. In fact, an interface like that of the Collins Spanish dictionary would be really fine; but then, it cost a whole lot more! (But, highly recommended!) And how do you enlarge the font size? Maybe Im overlooking some features.

I take it back. The program does work.

It opens on a blank page and you have to finger-click on the small top window to bring out the keyboard. Then, off you go. It does not have a introductory screen, however, and there are no instructions, although beyond knowing that the dictionary has no cover, you dont need any instructions. The previous comment that "There is no customer support and the creator has no valid website or a way to voice a complaint" still applies. It would be nice to put a cover on a book.

Nice refrence for the bible

I know that the New Testement was origionally in Greek, and this is a great refrence for it. I hope I can find a Greek-English bible on the future.

Great software but needs some refinement

This is very useful application for scholars of ancient texts. Liddle & Scott lexicon is regarded by many professionals the best lexicon available. It certainly gives a lot of information. Unfortunately author of this application hasnt included the list of abbreviations used in lexicon articles and there are a lot of them. A simple button which brings the list of abbreviations would suffice. Also one of the previous reviewers mentioned the fact, that there is no final Sigma letter to be found either in text or keyboard input. While it is not important for text input, I find it annoying that articles display words incorrectly. Otherwise its a great application. Check out the Latin-English Dictionary made by the same developer, it is equally good.

Great idea, problems with implementation

This app fills a real need. Students of ancient Greek will find it very useful to have L&S in such a convenient format. Unfortunately, the application itself has some flaws. The lack of a final sigma is distracting. (If this is a coding issue, maybe the developer should consider switching to a lunate sigma?) Worse is that I sometimes have problems getting the keyboard to appear, in spite of multiple taps. Restarting my iPhone seems to help here. And cross-referenced words are only sometimes hyperlinked; it would greatly increase the apps utility if all cross-references had links. Despite these issues, its a useful app, and at $1.99, the price is right. Id happily pay a little more for an updated version that was a little more functional. Id also be curious to know whether the abridged L&S (the "Little Liddell") is out of copyright. If so, it would be worth converting to the iPhone: with its expanded collection of morphological forms, it would be even more useful for Greek students wondering whether something is an aorist or a perfect.

Really good, but not perfect

I use this application for most of my vocabulary now, and it is a wonderful time saver. The direct access to the actual lexicon entries, rather than a poor set of supposed English meanings make this application a powerful tool for any serious Greek student who is pressed for time. The only problem that I have with it is that the tab at the top of the screen where you are supposed to type the letters is oddly insensitive to touch, so it sometimes is difficult to pull up the keyboard. Thats the only application that my iPod has that sort of trouble with, so it has something to do with the program, and not with the sensitivity of my own screen.

Amazing App - Ill get the concern out first, no final sigma. Now, this is an AMAZING App to go along with my NA27 from Olive Tree last week. As a student and professor of NT Greek, this is simlpy amazing...LS with me always. I am very happy. Thanks for your labors. John

Wonderful

Despite the few things lacking from this program, it definately deserves five stars. Having L&S on my iPod has made translation work go by much quicker and has taken a few pounds off of my back--both of which are appreciated. The final sigma problem is fixed with the update and the settings menu now lets us choose our own keyboard layout. The only things I would like to see at this point is some kind of intro page with information on the lexicon as well as an instruction page on the program and an abbreviation guide. A splash screen on start-up would also give it a sense of polish--which is really all the app needs right now as the basic functionality is all there. Three dollars is a steal for this. Buy it.

Final sigmas are present now!

The most recent update (on 2.24) now includes final sigmas...excellent! Thanks!

Incredibly useful: one new problem I want to draw to the sellers attention

This app is incredibly useful, as is the Lewis and Short app. It literally puts the searching power of a computerized dictionary in my hands everywhere I go. A friend of mine went out and bought an ipod touch because of it (we are both Classics grad students). Thanks for the new update! Unfortunately, I think by raising the price (it is still worth it- cant believe it is so cheap) something happened to keep current owners from upgrading to the new version. I am very excited about final sigmas, so if there is any way to fix this please help! This is my first review on the Itunes store cause I didnt see a way to contact the seller. Keep up the good work!
